Comrade and fierce leader in the struggle to save our forests, Roger Dorband, joined the Ancestors on October 10th, 2025. A photographer, writer, sculptor, and activist, who aimed his words and lens at the Oregon forests—their splendor, support systems, management systems set up to maximize profit, the critical reality of losing these great beings, of losing ourselves.
Our two-year project, Forest Visions, planted seeds, and Roger continued to write Forest Visions, an essential collection of essays that illuminate the many dimensions of our relationships with the forests, published by Hipfish Monthly (p 4 to read Dinah Urell’s tribute).
