It's Been a Busy Week

a dance quintet in process

What in the world goes on under the surface of our apparent busi-ness?

Gregg Bielemeier, Dorinda Holler, Elisabeth Tschalaer, Stephanie Schaaf and Susan Banyas shape dance poetry from the residue of a busy week and from fresh discoveries in the moment. We are joined in the recent performance by photographer Christopher Rauschenberg, who dances inside the work while documenting it.

The playful, sophisticated Everyday Dancing form is the basis for the collaboration. Busy Week morphed from Ms. Banyas' Everyday Dancing, a Dance Lecture at the the International Society for the Study of Time (CA) with Mr. Cherry on keyboards and electronics. The "lecture" on dance and life was delivered through movement and word images that that were conversational and meaningful, without being literal.

Loosely structured on a week in time, the dance/theatre piece is subtle, witty, and poignant.

"...The piece murmurs like an artists' lively dinner party..."
